What if you were god?

Think about it for a second - if it was all up to you, then how would this world, people, animals, joy, and pain have functioned?

If you could choose. Or rather, from the start, if you had been the one who had created everything and set the criteria for life, death, and eternity:

Then, if you actually had been god, who would have been created and who would come to your heaven?

Problem 1: If you were God, who would be allowed to come into your heaven and live there for all eternity?

«Everyone, of course!» lots of people exclaim. Or: «Those who behave, those who are good, will come into my heaven!»

«How do you define who’s ‘good’?» is my reply then.

What about the generous couple who donates time and money to the local football club and suddenly rumor has it that they are convicted for mistreating their children?

Or what about the person who has been hired at your workplace to cut the workforce and you are the first to be let go. But privately this person is gentle and helpful to all?

Problem 2: What if you were God, would you have created people to love you by force or by their own free will?

If love was forced, then we could have eliminated all evil from this world, which would have been good in and of itself.

Yet if we love by our own free will, then everyone will be able to love, feel and live with passion. The backside of this is that people also will be able to feel pain and hurt each other.

As we really ponder these kinds of questions, I for one have discovered that it’s not so easy to just give the answer: «All those who are good will come to heaven».
